Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival

You will be picked from the airport and driven to your hotel. The Pangolin Chobe Hotel was named Africa's Leading New Hotel 2019 by World Travel Awards. It's perched on the plateau above the Chobe River and a stone’s throw away from the border of the Chobe National Park. Designed and built by Pangolin co-owner Guts Swanepoel this amazing structure is Africa’s first establishment dedicated to the art of wildlife photography. Guests staying in any of the 14 beautiful air conditioned rooms spend the mornings and afternoon out in the National park on the signature photo activities with DSLR cameras and telephoto lenses supplied free of charge. Each activity is hosted by an award winning wildlife photographic host who is on hand to help you capture amazing images in the best year round photo destination in Africa. Depending on your arrival time you may be able to do only one activity on your first day.

Day 2

Full Day Safari

Every day there are two photographic activities, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The safari has land based game drives and water based game cruises on the Chobe River. The game drives are done on a custom 8 seater vehicle with bean bag camera mounts and window seat for all. The water based cruises are done in 8 seater shallow hulled photo boats with customized gimbals and 360 degree rotating seats. Canon professional cameras, telephoto lenses, memory cards and photo tuition by the photo host are supplied on each activity. The exact order in which these activities take place cannot be confirmed in advance as they are dependent on the seasonal conditions, photographic opportunities and the movement of animals. Guests will be advised of the activities schedule upon arrival. In between the activities we invite you to relax in the hotel by the pool or on your private balcony interrupted only to feast on delicious meals presented by the chefs.

Day 3

Victoria Falls Day trip

A day trip across to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe – which less than two hours away by road. This natural wonder of the world is on everyone’s bucket list and is combined with a lovely lunch and a visit to a local curio market. If you are looking for the perfect view of the falls we can even add on a helicopter ride to take in the spectacle from the air! This day trip normally takes place in the of the middle day allowing for plenty of wildlife photography on either side during your stay. You will be transferred in an air conditioned minivan across the border to Zimbabwe where you will have a guided tour of the falls. You will also be assisted through immigration. A visa may be required to enter Zimbabwe and will be issued on entry at an additional cost. There is also an additional fee to enter the falls.

Day 4

Full Day Safari

This is the last day of your photo safari. The day will start early at 0630 hrs with the first activity. Activities are mainly on the river. That is what Chobe is famous for. Chobe is often combined with other iconic destinations in the region that offer only land based game activities. For this reason you can expect to do more activities on the photo boats rather than the game viewer. As a guideline this ratio will be about three to one in favour of water based activities. The exact order in which these activities take place cannot be confirmed in advance as they are dependent on the seasonal conditions, photographic opportunities and the movement of animals. Guests will be advised of the activities schedule upon arrival which will be designed and coordinated by the photo hosts to optimise your time and photographic opportunities in Chobe.

Day 5

Departure

It's time to say goodbye to your amazing photo safari. You will be transferred to the airport. You will carry with you amazing memories and new wildlife photography skills. You will be given all the photographs you took during the safari on a memory card.
